Hong Kong Commits a Slip of The Tongue

According to a View from Asia post, Hong Kong’s chief executive, Leung Chun-ying, was sworn in today with a nice little inaugural speech, which he gave in Mandarin Chinese. Mandarin is the official dialect of mainland China. The most widely spoken language of Hong Kong is Cantonese, which is spoken by 89% of its inhabitants. It seems that Mr. Leung has committed a slip of the tongue.
